This was my first trip to Greece, and I was excited!

Taking a ferry from Croatia over to the Greek island of Corfu, I spent my first few nights at the infamous Pink Palace youth hostel.

After a quick trip to Albania, I was off to Athens!

After enjoying the Acropolis and the other sights and sounds of the city, I headed to the islands.

My first stop was Ios.

Next I was off to Santorini.

You probably know this island from the picturesque blue domes of the island’s churches.

It is also famous for the local wine, viewed here before crushing and fermentation.

Every island has similar architecture, but the church domes, colors, and styles are slightly different.

The island of Mykonos has some cool windmills.

Mykonos is also known for its stylish cafes and restaurants versus the more rustic vibe found on other islands.

Most islands offer a view if you are up for a hike to the top of the highest peak.

Travelling on a backpacker budget, I was lucky to find this private beach hut.

And speaking of beaches, saying there were “nice” is an understatement.

I loved the beaches, but I also enjoyed getting lost wandering through narrow passages of the island villages.

My last island stop before visiting Turkey was Samos. I was able to hike through the interior to a hidden waterfall.

I enjoyed the waterfall with this group of fellow travelers from Australia.
